The International Press serves as the voice of global accountability within MUNIC. Tasked with reporting on live debates, crisis developments, and diplomatic breakthroughs, members document the evolving landscape of international politics in real time. In a world shaped by information, the International Press ensures transparency, amplifies critical perspectives, and captures the pulse of diplomacy under pressure.
Operating without a pre-set agenda in the UNSC-Adhoc, the delegates must respond in real time to emerging global crises. The Council will assess threats to international peace and security, invoke Chapter VI or VII powers where necessary, and navigate high-pressure diplomacy, alliances, and crisis management.
This committee welcomes seasoned MUNers from High school and College level.
Questions of Sovereignty, Maritime Delimitation, and State Responsibility concerning Greenland. The Court will examine the legality of competing Arctic territorial claims in light of the UN Charter, UNCLOS principles, and rules governing state responsibility. Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation of the United Nations where students represent countries, debate global issues, draft resolutions, and negotiate solutions. MUNIC replicates almost real UN procedures across multiple committees, offering delegates an immersive diplomatic experience. This Year MUNIC would also offer THIMUN ROPs for DISEC Committee and Unique ROPs for ICJ. The Rules of Procedures of each committee can reffered in the background study guide.
Students from Grade 6 onwards (middle school, high school, and university level) can register. Both individual delegates and school delegations are welcome. Prior MUN experience is not mandatory.
Rules of Procedure (ROPs) are the formal guidelines that structure how a Model United Nations committee functions. They ensure debate is orderly, fair, and productive—just like in real UN bodies.
ROPs define:
How delegates request to speak
Types of motions (e.g., moderated/unmoderated caucus)
How resolutions and amendments are introduced
Voting procedures
Points (Point of Order, Inquiry, etc.)
In practice, debate moves through:
General Speakers’ List – Formal speeches
Caucuses – Focused discussion and negotiation
Drafting Resolutions – Writing solutions collaboratively
Voting – Adopting or rejecting resolutions
ROPs create structure while allowing diplomacy, negotiation, and strategy to thrive within the committee.
Each committee follows its respective UN-mandated procedure:
GA & DISEC – THIMUN ROPs
ECOSOC & UNEP – UNA -USA
UNHRC – UNA-USA
UNSC (Ad Hoc) – UNA-USA
ICJ – Moot Court–style adversarial procedure
Detailed ROP guides are shared post-registration.
Each committee presents multiple Diplomacy Awards, Outstanding Delegates, Special Mention and Best Negotiator awards. Additionally, Best School Delegation and Outstanding Delegation awards are conferred.
Preparation includes researching your country’s foreign policy, understanding the agenda, drafting a position paper, and practicing speeches. Structured training sessions are provided to guide you step-by-step. You can also enroll for our Changemakers Summer MUN Camp online and in-person for a personalised training. Refer to the Events page to know more.
Registration includes:
Pre-conference MUN training workshop
Agenda-specific briefing sessions
ROP mastery session
Position paper drafting guidance
Draft Resolution and Presentation Training
MUNIC is primarily an in-person conference to ensure immersive diplomacy. Hybrid/online participation is not available.
Allotments are released within 10 working days after successful registration and fee confirmation. Early registrants receive priority allocations.
Transportation facilities must be arranged by the participants.
A School Delegation consists of a group of students registered under one institution, eligible for the School Delegation Award. Individual Delegates register independently and are allocated individually across committees.
For every 10 student delegates, 1 educator may attend complimentary. Additional educator passes can be arranged upon request.
MUNIC expects approximately 200–300 delegates from across regions, ensuring competitive debate while maintaining quality engagement
United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA) Rules of Procedure is a widely used Model United Nations debating framework, especially in North America and many international conferences.
It follows a parliamentary-style structure designed to encourage dynamic debate, collaboration, and accessibility for beginners while remaining competitive.
Key Features of UNA-USA ROP:
General Speakers’ List (GSL): Formal speeches delivered in order.
Moderated Caucus: Short, focused speeches on a specific subtopic.
Unmoderated Caucus: Informal negotiation time to draft resolutions.
Draft Resolutions & Amendments: Introduced after sufficient sponsorship.
Simple Majority Voting: Most substantive matters pass by simple majority
Unlike THIMUN’s pre-draft resolution model, UNA-USA allows debate to evolve first, making it flexible and speech-driven. It balances structure with active participation and negotiation.
Both The Hague International Model United Nations (THIMUN) and United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA) provide widely used Rules of Procedure (ROP) for Model United Nations, but they differ in structure and debating style.
THIMUN follows a more formal, resolution-based European format. Draft resolutions are submitted early, debates are structured around them, and amendments are central to negotiation.
UNA-USA follows a North American parliamentary style. It emphasizes motions, moderated/unmoderated caucuses, and dynamic floor debate before drafting resolutions.
In short, THIMUN is more document-driven and formal, while UNA-USA is more speech-driven and flexible. The DISEC Committee at MUNIC 2026 would follow THIMUN ROPs.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is the principal judicial organ of the United Nations, responsible for settling legal disputes between states in accordance with international law.
Unlike traditional MUN committees (GA, UNSC, UNHRC), the ICJ is not a debate-based diplomatic body. It functions as a court simulation.
Key Differences:
Courtroom Format: Delegates act as Applicant, Respondent, Judges, or Legal Counsel — not country diplomats.
Law-Based Arguments: Focus is on treaties, conventions, customary international law, and legal precedents.
Written Memorials: Strong emphasis on written submissions before oral pleadings.
Judgment, Not Resolution: The outcome is a binding-style judgment delivered by judges, not a negotiated resolution.
Adversarial Structure: Two sides argue opposing legal claims instead of forming blocs.
MUNIC follows a Western Formal / Business Professional dress code to maintain the diplomatic standard of an international conference.
For Delegates (All Committees)
Formal blazer or suit
Collared shirt or formal blouse
Formal trousers or knee-length formal skirt
Tie (recommended for GA, DISEC, ECOSOC, UNEP, UNSC)
Closed formal shoes
For ICJ Participants
As a courtroom simulation, ICJ requires stricter formals:
Full suit/blazer mandatory
Conservative colours
Professional footwear
Not Allowed
Jeans, sneakers, T-shirts
Traditional casual wear
Flashy accessories
Delegates are encouraged to dress as diplomats representing their assigned country. Professional appearance contributes to overall evaluation and awards consideration.
